St Luke's Chapel

Chaplaincy at Scone Grammar School

What is the role of ‘chaplaincy’ in our school?

Chaplains participate in the spiritual, social and academic life of the school, providing care and support when required, leading and nurturing programs for spiritual development and welcome the opportunity to meet and speak with all members of our school community, including students, staff, families and friends of the school; providing a listening ear, especially in times of crisis. You may see your chaplain leading and organising chapels, teaching Christian Studies and Religious Education, organising Christian lunchtime groups, prayer and seeker groups, daily staff devotions and prayers as well as special projects.

We believe that the bible teaches us the truth about God and about how to live his way. You can read the bible here.

Most of all, the role of the chaplain in our school is to point to, as our school ‘rule of life’ suggests, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. ‘Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the author and perfector of our faith.’ (Hebrews 12:1-2)

We share that passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who we believe, as Christians, to be God’s Son, who lived, died, was buried and then raised to new life for us. Because Jesus died, in our place, for our sins, God gives us brand new life! This is indeed great news! Find out more about what Christians believe here and articles for Christian youth here.

As an Anglican school we celebrate the wider Anglican Church that gathers around us and regularly prays for us. We are seeking to develop meaningful and sustainable partnerships with the wider church and encourage families to explore these worshipping communities as expressions of the wider Anglican Church.

SGS Chapel Times:
We hold weekly chapel services for students and families, where we gather to learn more about God’s great plan, through Jesus for us, at St Lukes Anglican church at the following times:
Secondary Chapel: Monday 10:50am
Infant Chapel: Monday 11:40am
Primary Chapel: Monday 12:15pm
Chapel time includes songs of worship and praise to God, prayers, a time of listening to God’s word, the bible, as well as other student led activities. All are welcome.

Please contact Rev’d Nate to confirm times for prayer, encouragement and bible study times. If you have a specific prayer request, however are unable to attend a prayer meeting, please feel free to contact the prayer team anytime prayers@sgs.nsw.edu.au
