Scone Grammar School has a vibrant music programme, one that engages students in a combination of instrumental lessons, ensembles, choirs, bands and orchestras. Our young people enjoy the opportunity to learn and work in an environment that nurtures and encourages the Arts. We enjoy a strong reputation for the quality of our musicianship, with more than 60% of our students involved in music programmes at School and in the local community. In 2005 each of our three Year 12 HSC Music students gained a Band 6. The Music Centre consists of two teaching classrooms, a keyboard laboratory, and three practice rooms. Our classes involve a range of hands-on learning activities. Our curriculum Units of Music involve students participating in singing, listening, playing, moving, creating and analysis tasks based around a various themes or topics. The co-curricular programme at Scone Grammar School is very strong. Students are invited to begin learning piano or violin from Kindergarten. All of our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students participate in the Infants Choir. Primary Choir (Years 3-6) also enjoy the opportunity to engage in singing a range of repertoire.
