After School Academic Programme

The After School Academic Programme exists to promote the opportunity for our students to realise their academic potential and is made possible by the commitment of our dedicated staff.

Students are encouraged to undertake supervised work in the library from the completion of school until 4.45 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Teaching staff are available to provide specific subject based support and assistance in general principles of effective research and study skills. Many students simply enjoy the opportunity to take advantage of the excellent school resources in order to complete their homework prior to travelling home.

We are aware that each student has their own special idiosyncrasies and that the best way to nurture academic growth is through providing each person with the opportunity to analyse their strengths and weaknesses so that they are better able to take responsibility for their own learning. It is our ambition to create a school of independent learners, each capable of determining how they might best realise their enormous potential.

It is understood that we all benefit from being able to bounce an idea or to test a concept in order that we might complete a task, and it is in this way that we believe that we can best advantage our students. From time to time teachers of Year 11 and 12 will run specialist revision seminars on particular topics to consolidate learning and so deepen an understanding of essential coursework. We believe that the strength of this system is that it provides our students with support from those teachers who best understand their needs.
